Left of Sunset worked directly with the business owner to craft a brand narrative and identity strategies, carrying out design implementation across all print collateral and marketing website. We guided the process for the client to find her authentic voice, as well as, integrate heritage into the brand experience across all touch points: visual, written, and customer interaction. The results represent the client's unique perspective on wellness.

BRANDING PROCESS
We did a deep dive branding strategy session, to study the client's history and business goals, identifying core values and purpose. Learning that the client's Japanese culture and honoring family were essential components to highlight and the meaning of Washizu is 'Eagle's Nest'; these elements became a springboard for the logo imagery. We also determined customer pain points and how Washizu Body Wellness is able to address those challenges. Armed with a clear narrative, differentiation factors, we distilled the brand down to a set of foundation characteristics and a vision board to create a logo and identity system in support. The concepts of flight and inner light emerged at the center. |
PROCESS IS QUEEN
To get to the good stuff, we dig and shed layers. Distill until we capture true essence of a brand.
OVERCOMING OBJECTIONS
The client was happy with preliminary logo sketches and excited to show the concepts to trusted colleagues who looked at the presentation from an outside perspective and made judgements. "Too many birds and cartoons," they said. We addressed the objections with compassion, directly with the client and talked her through our methodical, intuitive, and iterative creative process. We established trust through empathy and dialogue to help people navigate uncertainty. That's where distinction lives and anything is possible.

RESULTS
One of our most celebrated discoveries is the expression of calling customers "guest" rather than the clinical term "patient". The client's approach to wellness is being able to provide personal attention and listening to each individual's pains. This message needed to be clear in not just her actions, but also in language.
Knowing that heritage is important to the client, we were inspired by the significance of hospitality or "Omotenashi" in Japanese culture. Omotenashi is a warm reception. When guests arrive for an appointment at Washizu, they are offered tea or beverage to create a welcoming experience. The space is uncluttered, ample natural light, and plants. We work closely with our clients to build strong foundations for their businesses holistically, not only in the way brands look, but how they sound, and feel. Branding integrates into the physical environment and interactions customers have at all points of contact with brand in person, print, or online.

TRANSFORMATION
The client felt empowered to pursue her dream of running a community oriented wellness practice. Feeling confident that her story was articulated honestly, in her voice. She could "Let Light, Take Flight".
